The Network Engineer/ Security Engineer will be responsible for the technical implementation, maintenance, and integration of the corporate LAN, WAN, and virtual server architecture. This individual will also be responsible for implementation and administration of network security hardware and software, enforcing the network security policy and complying with requirements of external security audits and recommendations.

  • Maintains and administers Firewalls, Switches, Web Application Firewalls, and virtual network technologies
  • Follows standards and strategy for the security of the network based on organizational needs
  • Designs and implements network changes that prevent outages or incidents, resolve security issues, improve service availability, or improve user experience
  • Develops documentation including technical drawings for networking and security implementations
  • Monitors network traffic for performance and security optimizations
  • Performs vulnerability scans, risk assessments, and penetration tests to ensure network security
  • Ensures that all security related items are documented and validation can be produced for any and all audits
  • Keeps up with industry trends and changing technologies as they relate to the healthcare industry, network engineering and security fields
  • Works with clients on VPN setup, security, and ongoing maintenance
  • Works with clients to help design solutions where networking and security are involved
  • Works with other members of the Technical Solutions team to create and complete both in-house and client site solutions projects in a timely fashion


  • Associate’ s degree or its equivalent required, Bachelor’ s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in Networking / Security or related field.
  • CCNA or relatable certification preferred

  • Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP and networking concepts.
  • Extensive knowledge of firewall, VPNs, and firewall rules
  • Ability to perform networking tasks from a command line
  • Advanced knowledge of network switching, LACP, STP, and virtual network technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of information security technologies such as antivirus systems, intrusion prevention systems, packet capturing tools, authentication mechanisms, and encryption technologies
  • Advanced knowledge of industry standard security methods such as reverse proxy and certificate based mutual authentication
  • Advanced knowledge of network layer high availability and load balancing technologies
  • Knowledge and understanding of healthcare related security and privacy requirements driven by standards such as HIPAA, PCI, and HITRUST
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMWare ESXi and Microsoft Hyper-V
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services
